Hydroxyl has none of the disadvantages of ozone.

Hydroxyls destroy disease-causing organisms.

Hydroxyls help destroy odors and VOCs (volatile organic compounds such as formaldehyde).

Hydroxyl is a Safe, Highly Effective, and Naturally-occurring compound in the earth's atmosphere that scrubs pollution, odors, and harmful pathogens from the air we breathe.

Hydroxyls DESTROY ozone and convert it to more safe Hydroxyl ions.

Anti-microbial Hydroxyls continue to kill germs, etc. even after the air has passed by the Air Probe Sanitizer's ultraviolet lamps, through the ducts, and entered your living space.

Hydroxyls and hydroxyl radicals are generated when ultraviolet UV-C radiation from the sun shines on water vapor in the atmosphere.

Hydroxyl ions clean, sanitize, and freshen the air.

Negative hydroxyl ions are also formed when the Air Probe Sanitizer's special ozone-destroying ultraviolet lamps emit UV-C rays. The UV light shines on the water droplets on your air conditioner's cooling coil and water vapor in the air in your ducts.

Hydroxyl ions will clean dirty, smelly, plugged air conditioner cooling coils and ductwork. We have personally seen that happen.

Technically speaking:

The hydroxyl ion consists of a hydrogen atom and an oxygen atom with a shared electron.

Hydroxyls and hydroxyl radicals are formed when UV-C radiation from the sun strips the hydrogen (H) atoms from water molecules (H20), forming negative hydroxyl ions (OH-) and a little hydrogen peroxide* (H2O2 gas) which helps clean the air. *NOT the liquid peroxide you buy at the store!

It utilizes the special hydrogen bond, which is a molecular bond formed only between the hydrogen atom and other atoms. The effects of hydroxyl on unwanted organic compounds such as VOCs* are pronounced.
